Synopsis:

To mark the 300th birthday of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, film director Pierre Maillard enlisted 15 filmmakers from around the world to find inspiration in the life and works of the philosopher. The result, La Faute à Rousseau, mixes short fictional works, documentaries, video essays, and animation to create of mosaic that explores facets of 'a great man who bridges generations and eras, [who speaks] directly to us, challenging in a contemporary way," according to Maillard.

On the occasion of the tercentenary of the birth of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, carte blanche was given to filmmakers, Swiss and international confirmed or still in training, to seize life and work of the philosopher. Titled "Blame it on Rousseau", this collection brings together 55 short films mix fiction, documentary, animation or trials, conducted in total freedom. All actualize Rousseau's thinking of challenging and unexpecting and offer the viewer to grasp the contemporary philosopher of the Enlightenment. Initiated by filmmaker Pierre Maillard, the project meets the real Department of Cinema of the High School of Art and Design in Geneva, RITA Productions and RTS for exemplary artistic collaboration.
