Synopsis:
Bonn 1948: The lawyer Elisabeth Selbert, a member of the Parliamentary Council, which is to formulate the Basic Law of the young Federal Republic of Germany. The committed social democrat has one main goal, she wants to finally put an end to discrimination against women in Germany and thus to anchor the phrase "men and women have equal rights" in the new constitution. But her conservative, mostly male colleagues, the few women in the Council and even Selbert's secretary Irma reject the initiative from the start. Determined to help her fellow women to more self-determination, Elisabeth Selbert organized a broad public awareness campaign, which eventually leads to success.

A historical drama about Elisabeth Selbert, a brave woman who pioneered equal rights for women in Germany. With Iris Berben ("Buddenbrooks") in the lead role and starring Anna Maria Mühe ("Novemberkind") and Lena Stolze ("The Nasty Girl").
