Synopsis:
The third part of the dramatic family saga by Rosamunde Pilcher, shows the Aird family is about to receive a previously hidden family member in their ranks. Laura Aird comes to Scotland after a US-stay with her biological father Conrad Tucker and celebrates reunion with her boyfriend Hamish Balmerino. But the joy is marred by the death of her grandmother Violet. No one suspects that the probate will cause great turmoil. However, the old lady has bequeathed her shares in the company, founded by Edmund, to a certain Olivia Thorpe that nobody knows. Edmund fears that the Airds could thus lose the majority of shares and this could be a decisive advantage for the ruthless Noel Keeling, who is still a CEO and has declared a war with the Airds.

The Airds go back for centuries and are inexorably entwined with the history of the estate. However, grave divisions amongst the surviving members of the family, who include Violet (Eileen Atkins), Edmund (Charles Dance) and Laura (Rebecca Night), threaten to bring to the fore elements of their ancestral past they would rather forget. Product Description Balnaird House, one of the most splendid estates in the Scottish Highlands, is the home of the ancient and venerable Aird family and - it will turn out - of many family secrets held tightly by Violet, aging matriarch of the Aird clan. Henry Aird passed the family home into the hands of the family business when overtaken by debt. This becomes a problem when his insatiable son-in-law Noel becomes chairman and suddenly the entire family fortune and its heritage are at stake. With corporate wheels spinning, heads and hearts are too, as Henry's daughter Laura is torn by heartache and her own lineage is questioned; Henry's friendship with the wealthy Balmerino family is at risk from shocking revelations; and who is the beautiful and mysterious Olivia, inheritor of a vital balance of the family company's shares? Secrets and heartbreak, passion and betrayal, innocence and greed - all human emotion is about to be played out on the Aird estate as this tale unfolds in light and darkness, in Shades of Love.
