Synopsis:
Belgium's experienced a lot in its history as seaport country that lies in the middle of Europe, in fact so much that it's often referred to as 'the battlefield of Europe'. One of the positive side effects of its location is that Belgium has also been the passage for freight, and just like that the dumping ground for anything that was seen as extra held a massive record collection. More often than should, Belgium is undervalued or overlooked in terms of music, notably its' role as prototype of house music. In response to the ignorance of too many music critics, Jozef Deville captures the spirit of a subculture in the New Beat documentary The Sound of Belgium.

The Sound of Belgium explores the rich but untold story of Belgian electronic dance music. From the grand dance halls with Decap organs to the golden days of Popcorn; From dark and cold Electronic Body Music and New Beat to Belgian House and Techno An alternative chronicle of unique popular music, 'The Sound of Belgium' goes in search of the spirit of a nation and the people that danced to it.
