Synopsis:
In Verdun, Memories of History, Léon Poirier's revisits the terrible battle which saw France pitted against Germany for over ten months. He explains that, compared with the silent version of 1928, this is a new film with a full soundtrack and dialogue. The scenes portrayed and the characters have changed. The story portrayed and the characters have changed. The story is told by the character of the veteran (Paul Amiot). In Understanding Verdun, the film historian and Battle of Verdun specialist Clément Puget analyses the film. He discusses issues raised by the film which are still relevant today.
