Synopsis:
Billy Kennedy stars in this made-for-TV adaptation of David Walliams' children's book. Despite being the star striker on his school's football team, 12-year-old Dennis Sims (Kennedy) feels out of place at school and still misses the mother who left left him and his brother John (Oliver Barry-Brook) after divorcing their dad (Steve Speirs). When aspiring fashion designer and fellow classmate Lisa (Temi Orelaja) recruits him to model a dress for her, Dennis decides to wear it to school and adopts the guise of a French girl named Denise but is quickly found out and expelled by his strict head teacher. But with the school's football team on a downward spiral without him, Dennis and Lisa try to come up with a creative scheme to get him back in school and back on the team.

Dennis attends a school with a very strict dress code and, although he is their football team's star striker, he feels out of place, missing the glamorous mother who walked out on the family, leaving him feeling estranged from his father. After being attracted to a fashion magazine he befriends free-spirited school-mate Lisa, a talented would-be designer, who persuades him to model a dress she has made.

Dennis, a twelve-year-old boy, enjoys football and fashion. The film shows the reactions of his family and friends to his eclectic activities.
