Synopsis:

In the early days of World War I, a shell explodes in the face of Adrien, a dashing young officer. Taken in hand by the army's plastic surgeon, he spends the rest of the war in the officers' ward, far from the front lines. Five years spent in limbo, forging invincible bonds of friendship; five years preparing for the future, for a new life...
