Synopsis:
This series chronicles the events surrounding the activities of the Royal Flying Doctors Service, which operates its own aircraft -in this case from the base at Coopers Crossing, an otherwise hardly notable town- to fly its medical staff throughout the Australian outback, where roads are too scarce and distances too immense to reach patients for medical care or get them to hospital by car in time. Doctors, nurses, pilots and base staff change throughout the seasons, often coming from the city and finding it difficult to adapt to life in the godforsaken countryside and be accepted by the isolated local community; there are of course the usual colleague stories. In most episodes they make one or more flights for routine medical examination sessions and/or emergency help, sometimes continued on board and/or in the hospital. Furthermore there are various sidelines, mainly concerning the local characters such as bar-owners Vic and Nancy, who also provide the only rooms, and some of their regulars, including local shopkeeper and busybody Violet Carnegie and arrogant richest businessman George Baxter who are very influential in the indispensable fund-raising.

This 46 disc set includes all 221 episodes of this internationally acclaimed series with a host of DVD extras. Join your favourite doctors, nurses and pilots risking their lives and saving those who live, work and travel in the Australian outback.

A famous painter (Bob Archer I think) comes to Coopers Crossing with his "friend" (Merv Atkinson I think) to get closer to the nature and find inspiration again. An old friend of Geoff also shows up in town to get away from a recent divorce. She is kind of clingy and keeps calling Geoff for "GG darling". Bob Archer reluctantly agrees to be the judge in a small contest for paintings in Coopers Crossing. Then he and Atkinson disappear into the outback with the plan to pretend that Archer got lost and died, when he really was picked up by a helicopter, all this to make the prize on his paintings to go up. Atkinson, on the other hand wanted to be more realistic and let him die for real. Meanwhile in the hospital the doctors find out that Archer has a problem with his blood, it won't clot, so that even the smallest wound could make him bleed to death. They find Atkinson and make him show them where the camp is. There they find Archer with a small wound and a lot of blood. When they are taking him to the hospital Atkinsons gastric ulcer suddenly gives him great pain. They have to find a helicopter which can take him to hospital, ironically enough, and that's when Archer finds out that Atkinson had left him there to die. Geoffs lady friend tries really hard to get Geoff romantically interested in her but fails, and then leave town.

Virginia run away to get some help and Geoff, Sam and constable Larry O'Connor come to get him to the hospital. They fix his leg and everything seems to be alright when Philip suddenly gets worse. Kate and Virginia are both convinced that Winjin and the bone-pointing had something to do with it, and Kate forces Geoff to talk to Dougie about it. Dougie takes Geoff to the cave again to meet Winjin, and then says that Winjins spirit is inside him and he can make Philip better. While Dougie is doing his thing Geoff tries a long shot. He believe it's something called histoplasmosis, a disease carried by the bats in the cave. When Dougie comes back from Philip he has the same bone with him that Winjin was waving in the cave, but Geoffs diagnosis was also correct. It's all a bit supernatural and Kate wonders why they didn't all get the disease. Vic starts serving beer in the backyard to let the customers sit outside if they wish to do so.
