Synopsis:

Based on the most recent discoveries this historical investigation proposes a radical change of view on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It takes the scientists of the Manhattan Project back to the beginning of the story and shows how their decisions and their desire to experiment with civilians paved the way for the atomic bomb. This documentary shows for the first time how the project continued after the shock of Japan. The ruins of the two cities were transformed into life-size laboratories by American scientists thanks to the creation of a new kind of research center, the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission (ABCC) or Commission for the Victims of the Atomic Bomb. After examining ABBC's archives for the first time, we discovered that the center prepared the US against the consequences of atomic warfare and nuclear fusion. Meanwhile, 6,000 censors prevented the Japanese population from knowing the effects of radiation. Aware of the dangers of radiation, Manhattan Project scientists conducted more plutonium experiments on patients in US hospitals and laboratories. Their ultimate goal was to prepare the world for its entry into the Atomic Age. THE HIDDEN FACE OF HIROSHIMA offers documents from Japanese and American archives, private and public, uploaded to HD, (some of which have been previously unpublished) as a setting for the reenactment of the events, with key characters acting in their own roles, with their own words. Oppenheimer, Truman, Byrnes, Stimson, Groves, Szilard, Vannevar Bush ... are some of the characters who will guide us in this investigation to discover the never seen history of the atomic bomb.
