Synopsis:

In 1999 Wim Wenders released his documentary (Buena Vista Social Club) in which he profiles the legendary Buena Vista Social Club musicians, recording their experiences as they perform in Cuba and abroad, eventually appearing at New York's Carnegie Hall. Hailed as "splendid ... a sheer delight" (New York Post), "glowing-embers documentary " (Washington Post) and "more incisive introduction to the peculiar world of Buena Vista than any live performance could provide" (The New York Observer), the film helped immortalize both the music and its now-famous practitioners who had been living in near poverty, all but forgotten in their own country.

A group of legendary Cuban musicians, some as old as their nineties, were brought together by Ry Cooder to record a CD. In this film, we see and hear some of the songs being recorded in Havana. There is also footage from concerts in Amsterdam and New York City's Carnegie Hall. In addition, many of the individual musicians talk about their lives in Cuba and about how they got started in music.

Documentary. Musical film featuring acclaimed guitarist Ry Cooder, and the making of the album entitled Buena Vista Social Club featuring the "band" put together to record it, composed predominantly of musicians from Cuba, mature in age but still going strong - the youngest of the group being 42 years old.
