Synopsis:
Wallander 14 - The Revenge: The small town Ystad in Sweden is suddenly struck by could-be terrorist attacks after the townhouse has an art controversial exhibition that is religious in nature. The army, secret service and politicians interfere with police work, but the police must find out who is blowing things up in Ystad and murdering local citizens? Wallander 15 - The Guilt: Six-year-old Albin Landberg goes missing from nursery school and his corpse is later found in the sea, pumped full of sedatives. Martinsson is convinced the culprit is recently-released paedophile Greger Frankman and is innocently responsible for a vigilante parent group locating and stoning Frankman's house, accidentally killing his elderly mother. Wallander is more interested in nursery helper Rebecka, who goes on the run following the news, but she was only going to meet another man behind her boyfriend's back.Discovering that Albin's older, adoptive brother Viktor was hyperactive and given the same tablets discovered in Albin's corpse by his father brings the investigation tragically closer to home for its solution. Wallander 16 - The Courier: Drug-running biker Erik Strah is found on a beach, his neck broken and the drugs gone - to the fury of vicious drugs baron Jovan Brankovic who runs the racket under cover of the Bloodhounds, the Ystad motor cyclists' group. Another member,Hans Kolt, gets a visit from officers Svartman and Isabelle about suspected dog fights. Svartman is attacked by a dog and Isabelle is later confronted in her flat by a masked man warning her from giving evidence. She wants to quit the force but Public Prosecutor Katarina gets Wallander to persuade her to stay. Looking for his senile old mother, who has gone walkabout from her care home, pathologist Nyberg accidentally stumbles on a disused church where the drugs gang meets. When another young biker, Johannes, is intimidated into taking over from Erik,Wallander and his team are in a position to follow him, raid the church and catch the villains. Wallander 17 - The Thief : Disgruntled residents on an estate which is frequently burgled form their own posse and nab a burglar, Polish immigrant Jarek Kozyra, who one of them,Olle, beats up and leaves for dead in the woods, torching his car. When Jarek's wife reports him missing she gives Wallander his mobile phone, on which he finds a picture of a dead woman, taken in a house Jarek robbed. Is she perhaps Olle's wife, supposedly staying with her mother but actually missing herself. As Wallander bonds with Katarina's son over a game of football, soccer holds the answer to the case. Wallander 18 - The Cellist : After attending a concert by Russian cellist Irina Konsalevska Wallander saves her life when she is the victim of a car bomb. She recovers in hospital where another attempt is made to kill her. Wallander finds out she is to give evidence against hit-man Yuri Rina, who shot dead her boyfriend Mischa and that the Russian Mafia are out to silence her. Mischa smuggled drugs in her cello case unbeknown to her but forensics reveal an unexpected link between victim and killer, giving the reason for the murder as personal. Irina is moved to a houseboat where she proves her worth in a gun battle between the police and her pursuers. Wallander 19 - The Priest : Priest Henrik Nordstrom is shot outside a hostel which he has been using to have sex with his lover Lotta, wife of Peter Unell. Unell is managing director of a firm Prominent Care, which exports hospital apparatus to Africa and the priest was involved with it. Henrik's pious wife Asa was aware of her husband's affair. Lotta tells Wallander she was about to leave her insensitive husband for the priest and candid photos of her with Nordstrom are found, along with the murder weapon in Peter Unell's house. As he stands trial for murder Wallander is convinced he has been framed and sets out to prove it.
