Synopsis:
The Last Place on Earth: Scott vs. Amundsen. It wasn't meant to be a race, but race it becomes, as the world awaits news of the first to reach the Pole. What follows is a tale of heroism, foolhardiness, selflessness and self-delusion, in a land where victory must be secondary to survival. Shackleton: August 1914. While the rest of England is preparing for war, explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton is preparing to go to Antarctica. He intends to cross the largely unexplored continent via the South Pole and become the first person to do so. His expedition is a perilous and eventful one, one that will go down in the annals of human endeavour, survival, resourcefulness and endurance. South: A journey from South Australia to the Northern Territories: the Flinders
range, sheep farming, desert springs, Coward springs, the MacDonnell Ranges,
the aboriginal ceremony of the pole dance, the aboriginal settlement at the
Hermannsburg mission.
