Synopsis:
*********THIS DVD'S DESCRIPTION HAS NOT BEEN FINALIZED YET********
While the arrival of wealthy gentlemen sends her marriage-minded mother into a frenzy, willful and opinionated Elizabeth Bennet matches wits with haughty Mr. Darcy.

Jane Austen's classic novel about the prejudice that occurred between the 19th century classes and the pride which would keep lovers apart.

Comedy drama. In England, around the start of the 19th century, a young woman has an unusual courtship with a supercilious bachelor. Elizabeth Bennet lives happily enough with her parents and four sisters in Hertfordshire, but marrying the girls to well-to-do gentlemen is a major concern for Mrs Bennet. When some eligible new men arrive in the area, one of them, Mr Bingley, takes a shine to the eldest and prettiest Bennet daughter, Jane. Bingley's snobbish sister does her best to poison her brother against the idea of marrying people of little social status who live in the country. Meanwhile, Bingley's friend Mr Darcy appears to have the same aversion to country families, whom he sees as less refined that the wealthiest city people. Elizabeth happily mocks him for his unkind opinions. Darcy finds her confidence (in speaking to him dismissively) refreshing, and when he learns she is both astute and a good shot at archery, he finds her positively attractive. Yet all is far from straightforward for them. For one thing, Elizabeth has trouble persuading the oily Mr Collins (set to inherit the Bennet family home upon Mr Bennet's death) that she has no interest in marrying him. For another, Miss Bingley seems to succeed in breaking her brother away from Jane. Worst of all, Elizabeth's foolish young sister Lydia shames herself and the family by eloping with the rakish Colonel Fitzwilliam, whose disreputable history with women is well known to Darcy. During these trials, Elizabeth and Darcy undergo various misunderstandings and changes of opinion about each other. By the time they appreciate each other properly and realise how they truly feel, it may be too late. (Synopsis)
