Synopsis:

Douglas Bader entre à l'école des Cadets de l'Armée de l'Air britannique et s'y montre dès l'abord un ' caractère ' plus capable d'aller de l'avant que de se plier aux règlements. Malgré ses incartades, il est nommé officier et affecté avec son ami Sanderson. En visite sur un terrain civil, maigre l'interdiction de faire des acrobaties à basse altitude, pour répondre à une provocation grossière, il prend un appareil, et se retrouve en clinique.
