Synopsis:

Après un long séjour à Londres, Sujata revient au Sri Lanka avec sa fille Aruni. Sa soeur, qui s'est sacrifiée pour assurer la charge du domaine familial, les y attend. Mais la grande demeure, splendeur d'une époque révolue, est vouée à disparaître, d'autant que Lucas, le fils de l'ancien métayer ayant réussi dans les affaires, est prêt à tout pour faire main-basse dessus. Et avec ce domaine vont finir les dernières illusions d'une caste dans le crépuscule de son histoire...
