Synopsis:
No french review yet:
Rudolf Vrba, 19, and his friend Alfred Wetzler were the first escapees to alert the world to the horrors of the Nazi killing machine. Auschwitz Birkenau was the largest of six death camps built to exterminate Jews, with thousands murdered every day. During the five years of its existence, there were many escape bids by prisoners. Most failed, with the unfortunate victims tortured before being killed, their bodies hung up to discourage others. Only five men, including Vrba and Wetzler, managed to get away and survive to write about their experiences in a damning report that came to be called the Auschwitz Protocols. As the document reached an incredulous world, the true purpose of Auschwitz became clear. Dramatic reconstructions and interviews with Holocaust survivors remind us of the events surrounding the pair's daring escape from their living hell.
