La forza del destino is an Italian opera by Giuseppe Verdi. The libretto was written by Francesco Maria Piave based on a Spanish drama, Don Álvaro o la fuerza del sino, by Ángel de Saavedra. A performance recorded live in La Scala, Milan, on 18th June 1978, conducted by Giuseppe Patane, to mark the bicentenary of the foundation of the Opera House. Sung in Italian, with subtitles available in English, French and Spanish.
