Synopsis:
No french review yet:
The Great Adventure: A vixen mother invades a chicken coop to provide food for her cubs. She continues to raid the coop until she is shot by a farmer. The cubs are attacked by the farmer and only one survives. An otter trapped in a burrow is rescued by 10-year-old Anders and his six-year-old brother, Kjell. In secret, the boys cage the animal and finally domesticate it. They obtain food for the Otter by fishing through the ice on a frozen lake... The Flute and the Arrow: A documentary about the muria people of the Bastar jungle in central India. The Boy in the Tree: Gote is a young teen who seems to be at odds with his family and may not know his own mind that well either. Discontented and rebellious, Gote joins up with two mean-spirited game poachers in spite of the fact that he loves animals and nature. This contradiction between his own feelings and his need to rebel reaches a climax when a forest ranger starts to track down the young men in ever-tightening circles. My Home is Copacabana: Jorginho, his white friend Rico, Lici and Paulinho are homeless best friends living in a slum in a hill in Copacabana. They spend their hopeless life playing with kite; trying to survive getting food from the street market or the fishermen; learning how to pickpocket; working on the streets polishing shoes. Rico escaped from an institution in Caxambu that symbolizes hell on Earth for them. When he gets ill, he decides to return to the place because he does not want to die on the streets. On the back of the earth: Arne Sucksdorff's daily life footage from four years in Brazil, accompanied by narration from his personal diary. Rhythm of a City: A short impression of Stockholm. Departure: Sixteen-year-old Katarina Taikon (1932-1995) dances by the Roman campfire. Later, she would be known as a political activist for the rights of the Romans and celebrated children's writers, but here she is the girl dancing barefoot at campfire. The Roman families are waiting for a broken engine to be fixed , the men gather for a card game and music while the women start dancing. Later, Katarina Taikon would give a much more disturbing picture of growing up as Roma in the 30's through to the 50's in Sweden. The family were offered no permanent residence and were forced to move every three weeks, the children were not allowed to go to school and in the winters it was terribly cold in the tents. It went on until 1959 before the Romans were given the right to housing and schooling, but prejudice and oppression did not disappear overnight. In the 60's and 70's, Katarina Taikon became a well-known spokesman for Roman rights, and with the autobiographical children's books about 'Katitzi', she entered the Swedish scene of literature. Indian Village: A depiction of village life in India.
