Games of Love and Loneliness: Arvid share the love with a young woman named Lydia, but as is customary at the turn of the century, is not love enough for a fairy tale to come true. While Arvid struggling to create the basis for their existence, Lydia's thirst for the good life leads her to marrying an older wealthy man. Next of Kin: Gathered at a funeral for a successful business man, the testament is to be read. They will all inherit, with a big IF; if the family company is to be joint run by all the heirs. Witch Hunt: The year is 1630. A young woman Eli Laupstad comes to a small mountain village. She witnesses a woman being hunted and captured. Aslak Gimra, which is responsible for the horses at the biggest farm, informs Eli that the woman was suspected of witchcraft. Eli seeks out Ingeborg Eriksdotter Jaatun, head of the largest farm in her man's absence. She is permitted to work to weave and dye yarn and fabric. She has her own equipment with her. Eli is descended from the village. Her ancestors lived on the farm Laupstad. Now she wants to settle down there.
