César and Zain are two young men in their early twenties from two distant corners of the world, with very different cultural and religious backgrounds: East and West. Spain and India. Madrid and Old Delhi. Christian and Muslim. They both play chess and have become friends through playing over the internet. Hi-tech communications and the game's time-honoured language prove to be equally universal, and allow for the two youths to begin a friendship without ever meeting in person. Can two lads from such different cultural environments find common ground to define truly universal values in today's restless world? Exploring this challenge requires mutual awareness of each other's reality and a conscious effort towards understanding, a fact that proves difficult if each boy holds onto his previous stereotypes socially constructed by their respective cultures.
