Two formidable artists, one place and one bitter rivalry. These are the ingredients for the series "The Great Artist Duels". And it is also the ingredients from which great masterpieces and artistic innovations are created. Berlin 1911. Emil Nolde is new to Berlin artist circles. But the Secession, led by the influential painter prince Max Liebermann, did not like his style of painting, too colorful, too many wild faces. Emil Nolde foams. He initiates a public dispute and calls Liebermann's style "weak and cheesy". But in addition to questions of style, it is also about a conflict between two generations and two very different biographies. With Nolde's exclusion from the Secession, the rifts deepened.
