Synopsis:
No french review yet:
"Play for Today" Stocker's Copper: It's not easy being a striker with a strike-breaking policeman billeted in your home but Manuel Stocker and Herbert Griffith manage to make a go of it. Until events turn violent. "Play for Today" Victims of Apartheid: George, a black South African, finds it hard to settle down in London after his experiences in South Africa. "Play for Today" The Spongers: Set against the backdrop of the Silver Jubilee of Elizabeth II, the play depicts a single mother's struggles in this highly polemical and unremittingly bleak diatribe against government welfare cuts from the poor and disabled. "Play for Today" The Elephants' Graveyard: Bunny has told his wife he is working as a postman, but in fact is wandering the hills all day, wondering why he doesn't want to work. He meets Jody, an older man who has told his wife he's working in a factory, but is in fact doing the same thing. The two men spend a day of friendship together, but what does the future offer them? And tonight is supposed to be pay night... "Play for Today" Just a Boys' Game: Jake lives in the shadow of his dying grandfather, who was once the town's toughest hard man. Despite their hatred of each other, Jake's sole aim is to be as tough as the old man was. One day in Jake's life, as he drifts, drinks and fights, leads to a bleak realisation. "Play for Today" Gotcha/Campion's Interview: Two stories about school. Gotcha by Barrie Keeffe and Campion's Interview by Brian Clark.
