Synopsis:
No french review yet:
Brush with Fate: A teacher (Glenn Close) recounts to a new colleague (Thomas Gibson) the 300-year history of a painting she claims is a lost work by Dutch artist Johannes Vermeer. In flashbacks, the masterpiece changes hands among a chain of owners, including a 19th-century sea merchant (Jan DeCleir); a potato farmer's wife (Thekla Reuten); a socialite (Ellen Burstyn) in the early 1700s; and and a Jewish family during the German occupation. Ellen Foster: After her mother's death, a young girl is separated from her abusive father and is sent between her various friends and relatives, always longing to find a place to call home. Growing the Big One: Seattle radio talk-show host Emma Silver inherits grandpa Walt's pumpkin farm in Valleyville. She didn't plan to respect his last will, which was to run the farm, but loses her job and is forced to accept hosting a new 'green' program. In order to keep it, she must pay off a $75,000 mortgage. To that end, she hopes to win the pumpkin-growing contest using grandpa's winning seed line and cultivation log. Neighbor Seth Cullen, the town's handyman (and actually a Stanford engineering graduate), has a hard time convincing her they need to team up. Breathing Lessons: A married couple review their lives and renew their love for one another while driving to a friend's funeral. William & Catherine: A Royal Romance: The love story of Prince William and Kate Middleton that resulted in one of the most celebrated weddings in history. At a pivotal point in their courtship, William takes to heart the advice of his mother, the late Princess Diana, which she bestowed in an interview before her untimely death. The message she left for her son: hold on to the love of your life and protect it with all of your heart. Beyond the Blackboard: A 24-year-old first-time teacher overcomes her initial fears and prejudices and makes a difference in the lives of the homeless children she teaches in a shelter's makeshift classroom. November Christmas: A heartwarming and sometimes heartwrenching story of a little girl who has cancer. It's a beautiful reminder of the importance of family, hope, faith, and the power of community. It's quite inspiring and offers the viewer several ideas about how everyone can bring joy to those in need through the smallest acts of kindness. Follow the Stars Home: Two brothers - one virtuous, one feckless - are in love with the same woman. She falls for Brother Wrong, carrying a torch for him even after he deserts her. But Brother Right remains steadfast and available. What's unusual here is why the bad brother pulls his disappearing act. Mark walks out on wife Dianne after learning that the baby they're expecting has severe genetic abnormalities. Dianne is nonetheless determined to bear her child, with support from her mother and Mark's brother David, a pediatrician whose love for Dianne is unspoken but obvious. How do they cope with the challenges of raising this little girl named Julia? Gracie's Choice: Anne Heche plays an abusive mother to Gracie, played by Kristen Bell. Gracie has always taken care of her three younger half-brothers and one half-sister. When her mother's drug and alcohol abuse goes too far, Gracie decides to assume the official role of mother to her half-siblings. Fallen Angel: When his father dies, Terry returns to the house where he grew up, planning to stay only long enough to clean and settle the estate. Yet something indescribable keeps him there longer than expected. Soon, he is reunited with memories and people from his past and his life is changed forever.
