Synopsis:
No french review yet:
Christmas at Dollywood: Although she loves her job as an event planner for successful Gail Lane in New York City, the company which Gail tells her directly will someday be hers in being the best of her staff, Rachel Davis, if being true to herself, would admit the job was a fallback in none of her children's books being accepted for publication. With an event canceled at the last minute, Gail gives Rachel an unexpected and unusual break over the Christmas holidays, allowing Rachel and her adolescent daughter Ava to return 'home' to spend Christmas with Rachel's parents and sister Maggie in Pigeon Hole, Tennessee, Rachel and Maggie who grew up in the proverbial shadow of Dollywood where Maggie now works in administration. It is Maggie that arranges for Rachel, on behalf of Gail's company, to interview to handle the thirtieth anniversary Christmas event at Dollywood, it arguably the biggest event Rachel would have worked on if awarded it in having a national scope. It is when Rachel arrives at Dollywood that she meets Luke Hackman, who she initially believes is interviewing for the same job, but who is actually the Director of Operations at Dollywood, he who is interviewing for the open General Manager position. In meeting with the Board after their respective interviews, Rachel and Luke are both dismayed to learn that they have been appointed co-organizers of the thirtieth anniversary event, that dismay due to both having differing views and working styles. Eventually able to overcome their antagonism, Rachel and Luke begin to work harmoniously together in realizing that they are working toward not only the same goal of a successful event, but that success which would springboard them to their end goals of putting Gail's company on the national map and Luke getting the GM position, respectively. In the process, Rachel and Luke start to fall for each other. Their path to a happily-ever-after is hindered by their diverging life paths, Rachel's whose is in New York City working toward a higher position in Gail's company, and Luke who is struggling with accepting a sure thing in an offer as GM at Wild West Amusements in Atlanta, that struggle especially as he begins to suspect the GM position at Dollywood won't be his and despite his heart being at Dollywood. Time for You to Come Home for Christmas: For the second Christmas in a row, Boston bank employee Katherine Moss has decided that she and her preteen son Will won't go back to the military town of Provincetown. Virginia, her hometown, for the holidays. The memories are still too strong there of her now-deceased husband, musician Tyler Moss, who like many in Provincetown was once in the military but was killed in a traffic accident two years earlier. Kat and Will don't talk to each other about Tyler, each wanting to shield the other from the painful memories associated with his death. Not returning home is also despite Kat once having dreamed about taking over the family business, Winter's Pastries, a bakery where she and Tyler spent much of their time together when they were dating. At the last minute, Kat changes her mind, feeling it is indeed time to go home. Upon their return to Provincetown, Kat discovers that not only is the annual Christmas Snowball Dance still happening, but also that Tyler's former band-mate, Maggie Rhodes, has resurrected their trio with someone she found by posting an ad through the VA Centre to fill in for Tyler as they perform at the dance like the trio had done in the past. The hired musician is Jack Sutherland, a vet like Tyler whom Kat and Will had earlier met on the train to town, he having never set foot in Provincetown before but had been summoned by an unknown friend. The human connection made between Kat and Jack, the first for Kat since Tyler, is punctuated with Jack's true mission in Provincetown: to return a memento to someone he met only briefly years ago and never knew a name, only that the person saved his life. Picture a Perfect Christmas: Sophie is a successful photographer. When her boyfriend leaves for yet another assignment over Christmas and she hears that her grandmother has hurt her ankle she decides to spend her Christmas at her grandmother's. Next door to her grandmother lives David who desperately seeks a nanny for his nephew, Troy, that he's custodian to after Troy's parents died. Sophie offers to help out until he can solve the nanny problem as she has no assignments at the moment.
