Synopsis:

To Hull and Back: Chief Inspector Slater is back on the manor, and on the trail of an international diamond-smuggling ring which he believes is operating again locally. Just as luck would have it, Boycie and his business partner Abdul seem very keen to recruit Del for just such an operation - and are prepared to make it financially very much worth his while. Does Del risk going ahead and getting involved, taking the loot - or does he forget the money and help the persuasive Slater with his inquiries, enabling him to retire from the force in a blaze of glory? The Jolly Boys' Outing: The Trotters join other Nag's Head regulars on a day trip to Margate. However, possibly due to one of the Albanian radios Del has imported and is fitted in the coach there is a fire and an explosion and, due to a train strike, the party are forced to stay overnight. As it is a Bank Holiday accommodation is scarce and the Trotters find themselves in a creepy old guest house run by scary Mrs. Cresswell. Del and Rodney go to a club where they see magician the Great Ramondo and his assistant, Raquel, a former girl-friend of Del. Returning to the guest house they find themselves locked out and return to Raquel's flat, where Del, who still has feelings for her, makes a fool of himself by assuming that Ramondo, who is actually gay, is sexually harassing her and hits him, throwing his suit-case out of a window. On return to London Rodney makes a similar fool of himself by assuming that Cassandra is having an affair with her boss, whilst Del finds out that the suit-case he threw out of the window hit Boycie and Trigger. Heroes and Villains: Del has applied for a council grant but been turned down. After giving Rodney a bracelet (inscribed 'Rooney') for his birthday, Del drives Rodney to a fancy-dress party where they're dressed as Batman and Robin. The 'Reliant' Robin breaks down, and as the costumed brothers run through the fog, they scare off a gang of muggers about to rob a female councillor. At the party they are the only guests in costume because the birthday boy has actually died, and the party is now a wake. But there is good news the next day when Del catches one of the muggers as he is about to rob an old lady and knocks him unconscious. He gets a medal AND his council grant as a reward for helping the female councillor. Good news for Rodney too: Cassandra announces that she is pregnant.
