Synopsis:

Michele, abandonné par sa femme, vit à Rome avec son fils dans un petit appartement. Il lui reste ses amis et parmi eux, Fabio, qui les persuade de monter un nouveau spectacle théâtral d'avant-garde. Afin de leur faire atteindre la quintessence de l'art théâtral, Fabio décide de soumettre le groupe à un entraînement psychique et physique extrême. Ses discours abscons mêlant Sade, la politique, le Living Theater, Foucault laissent son entourage dubitatif. Fabio cherche le soutien de professionnels et tente par tous les moyens de séduire un critique théâtral renommé. Il prend aussi l'initiative de faire participer le public à sa création... Michele, de son côté, n'arrive pas à retrouver l'âme-soeur...
