Synopsis:
Sam Sheppard, un prestigioso cirujano es acusado en 1954 del brutal asesinato y violación de su mujer y es detenido como único sospechoso. La prensa local y la comunidad le señalan como responsable de la muerte y finalmente es condenado a prisión a cadena perpetua. Su hijo Sam, profundamente marcado por el acontecimiento, se queda con su tío, quien le envia a un colegio militar.
