MUVART (Movement of Contemporary Art of Mozambique), is an association of 11 young contemporary artists, mostly teachers at the National School of Visual Arts of Mozambique, who through their works and actions, represent a break with the traditional forms approaching the plastic arts. They indeed offer new aesthetics which, sometimes, are the result of the use of new techniques and supports, such as recycled materials. This movement serves as an incentive and promotion for Mozambican creators, on the national scene as on the international scene, not as a mirror of an Africa frozen within its traditions but as a witness to the world of today. today defined from its human, unique and contemporary riches. Some members of MUVART were invited to participate in the Contemporary Art Fair in Lisbon in November 2004. The preparations for this fair were behind the making of this film. Accompanying the preparation of works for the exhibition allows us to discover the intimacy and everyday life of the characters, and through their point of view, to take a look at the state of the art and the Mozambican cultural identity in a society and a city that are constantly changing, growing and developing.
