This documentary chronicles the life of art dealer Paul Rosenberg. This close friend of Picasso, Braque, Matisse, Laurencin, Léger, contributed to forming the taste of the Americans for modern painting. Thanks to his legendary eye and flair, his Parisian gallery located at 21 rue La Boétie became one of the most important in Europe in the interwar years. It was requisitioned by the Nazis, who set up the Institute for the Study of Jewish Questions there, a hotbed of anti-Semitic propaganda. After the war, the exiled merchant in New York devoted the rest of his life to searching for his 400 missing paintings. It is from a long, original audio interview with his granddaughter Anne Sinclair, that the film traces the trajectory of this exceptional man in archival footage.
