His enormous thirst for power was unprecedented. Less is known about the character of Goebbels. A gentleman to the outside world but steeped in barbaric ideas. Passages from his diaries from 1942 to 1945 are, as it were, quoted by Goebbels himself: how he experienced his first meeting with Hitler and what he really thought about his colleagues such as Goering and Himmler.
