Synopsis:
Louis Malle doesn't bother telling us when fact ends and fancy begins in Black Moon -- which of course is part of the film's curious charm. Lily (Cathryn Harrison granddaughter of Rex) drives down a lonesome road, finding herself in a alternate world full of non sequiturs and bizarre characters. At times, this looks like a David Lynch film, what with an old woman conversing with a rat, a strange set of possibly incestuous siblings (one of whom is "underground" film star Joe Dallesandro), and several other warped set pieces. You want explanations? Go to another movie. Black Moon is French Nouvelle Vague at its vaguest.

There is a war in the world between the men and the women. A young girl tries to escape this reality and comes to a hidden place where a strange unicorn lives with a family: Sister, Brother, many children and an old woman that never leaves her bed but stays in contact with the world through her radio. Since the content of this picture is not as important as the pictures and allegories, the simple plot can not be described further.
