Synopsis:

Rita (Eva Rose) works at a doggy beauty salon, and business is slow. In her spare time, she reads simple love stories and takes care of her ailing step mom, Edith (vet Lena Nyman), a demanding, racist old woman. As Rita approaches her 30th birthday, she signs up for a New Age course at a resort close to Stockholm. Edith protests, especially when she realizes a young black man, Sqamir (singer Eagle Eye Cherry), will take care of her in Rita's absence. At the resort, Rita meets Knut (Niklas Engdahl) and they start dating. However, she's unaware that he's a journalist who's been collecting material for a critical article on New Age philosophy and spiritualism. Rose's winning smile makes Rita's relationship with Engdahl's blander Knut believable.
