Synopsis:
A tough, critical view of Italy from a director born into a fine film making pedigree, the Comencini family. A Casa Nostra uses a series of overlapping narratives to present an entirely different view of Italy than the one that features in the majority of Italian cinema seen internationally over the past two decades. The cast is first rate, Valeria Golino, Luca Zingaretti jointly lead a strong ensemble, but in many ways, it's the grim, dark deep blue hues if modern day Milan that star in a film about money. Those with, and the suspect ways in which money changes hands. Comencini's background in politically charged drama helps distil our Country into a compelling feature, full of urgency.

Director Francesca Comencini teams with screenwriter Franco Bernini to explore the manner in which money dictates the lives of people in Milan at the dawn of the 21st century in this drama that premiered at the 2006 Rome Film Fest. Ugo (Luca Zingaretti) is a crooked banker with a shifty hand for finances. Rita (Valeria Golino) is a by-the-books finance officer determined to bring Ugo to justice. In a city where money, or lack thereof, seems to be the motivating factor in the lives of all individuals no matter what side of the law they fall on, the confrontations and contradictions in their lives all come together to offer a revealing look at the value placed on the almighty euro.

Set in present day Milan, people with very different life stories come into contact, cross paths , all of these lives are in some invisible manner ruled by money: a lot of money, very little money, stolen, earned, flaunted, hidden, sometimes untouchable. The money flows from one story to another, from one person to the next.
