Synopsis:

HAVANNA MI AMOR has been made when the Cuban TV began showing a Telenovela again after some time that was dedicated to the lifestyles of today's Havanna. Shortly after the announcement of the pilot episode, no one could miss the wave of wheel barrows, wagons, and Rikschas, which the Cubans use to bring their broken televisions to the repair service - an adventure of construction blended into the city pulse of Havanna. In the early phase of the first ten parts of the Telenovela we follow Gladys, a young tabacco worker, Silai, the manager of a hair salon, Felix, Juana, Marino and Vilma who are all fanatic watchers and José, the mechanic, who is responsible for the functioning of these old devices. Every evening the inhabitants of Havanna gather in front of their TV's to dive into the world of Telenovelas. These days it seems as though these ancient Soviet devices can no longer fulfil their wish to escape reality. Recounting their struggles and relationships between their every day life and the endless soap opera episodes, this documentary is a homage to love, old television sets, and one of the most beautiful cities of the world.

Offers a journey into the love lives of seven Cubans whose relationships echo television, but in far more exciting and realistic ways. We see the private love lives of these colorful people whose stories of passion, love, pain and emotional strength outweigh their favorite telenovela characters.

Documentary. The film looks at the lives of an assortment of people living in present-day Havana - all avid viewers of Cuban television's 'telenovelas'. It would appear that the lives of those in front of the screens are far more exciting than the daily soaps.
