Synopsis:
December 1957: miner's son Vic Brown meets Ingrid Rothwell, an attractive young typist in the engineering firm where he works as a draftsman, in the West Riding of Yorkshire. Vic is infatuated; they begin an intense relationship, and when Ingrid discovers that she is pregnant, the couple marry in haste and move in with Ingrid's mother. But Vic finds that physical desire rapidly fades and the banality of marital life frustrates him as his sense of claustrophobia grows.

The ten-part drama series A KIND OF LOVING is set in Yorkshire and London during the 1950s and 1960s. The action gets under way in 1957, when Vic Brown (Clive Wood), the headstrong son of a West Riding minister (John Keegan), begins what he regards to be a casual affair with Ingrid Rothwell (Joanne Whalley - WILLOW, SCANDAL). Somewhat against his will, Vic is obliged to declare his intentions to Ingrid's family, and ends up marrying the girl. But neither the courtship nor the marriage is what one could call completely blissful, and therein lies the story's dramatic core.

Following the story of Vic Brown, a West Riding miner's son. It starts in 1957 with a casual affair with Ingrid Rotherwell, which develops into an emotional crisis...
