Synopsis:
Gloria Harkinson's mother, an actress eager to maintain her glamorous mystique, has tucked her away in a Swiss boarding school. The creative teenager realizes that she can not speak about her mom to anyone there. Because she has no living father, either, she decides to invent one -- a rugged adventurer, no less. Her imaginary pop becomes a "problem," however, when Gloria's friends demand to meet the heroic fellow. So she finds a vacationing composer to fill "dad's" shoes!

Deanna Durbin plays the neglected daughter of a film star kept from the press in a Swiss boarding school where she invents a handsome explorer father to impress her schoolmates. Pressed into proving he exists, she convinces a stranger who happens to be a composer to play the part of her father, only to set up a fateful reunion with her movie star mom.

A young woman at a girl's school in Switzerland makes up stories about and writes herself letters from an imaginary explorer-adventurer father; and is eventually put in a position where she has to produce him. Interesting things happen as she talks a visiting Englishman into helping her out.
