Synopsis:
Swiss helmer Jacob Berger's That Day unfolds over a single, eventful day and is told from three different perspectives - a cheating husband, a betrayed wife and their baffled son. Serge (Bruno Todeschini) is a radio newscaster living in Meyrin, a suburb in Geneva, with his wife Pietra (Natacha Régnier) and 8 year old son Vlad. A womaniser who is having an affair with Mathilde (Noémi Kocher), Serge is torn between his mistress and his wife Pietra, and is unable to communicate with his son. One dark, rainy morning, he leaves for work and stops on the way for a quick tryst with Mathilde. Leaving her house, unable to see in the pouring rain, Serge hits something with his car - something he thinks might have been a person. Serge is distraught, and his paranoia increases throughout the morning. He tries to get information about hit and run cases from the police, claiming it's for research. As he surrenders himself to the police, the skeptical inspector takes him to examination. Pietra finds Mathilde and Serge in bed in her house, and realises she has been betrayed. Vlad has a crush on Manon, a girl from school, who unbeknownst to all is Mathilde's daughter. Hoping to catch a glimpse of Manon, Vlad goes to her house and unexpectedly sees his father. The day is spent avoiding and observing each other. How will Vlad, Serge and Pietra find each other again? Jacob Berger's intense, insular drama won the Best Director Award at the 2007 Montréal World Film Festival.

Jacob Berger's film shows a day in the life of a family. People meet and leave, and wonder, will they find themselves again? At daybreak, Serge believes he has committed a crime. Pietra realises that she has been betrayed around midday. At one o'clock 8-year-old Vlad feels lovesick for the first time. The day is spent observing, looking, avoiding and meeting each other. One day, three different perspectives: the same evening twilight, the same loneliness. And there is always the stranger who crosses their path. How will Serge, Pietra and Vlad find each other?

Twenty-four hours that will shatter the life of an already fragile family. Every morning at dawn, Serge leaves to prepare for the seven a.m. news radio broadcast. But first he makes a detour to spend a few intimate moments with his mistress Mathilde. As he leaves her home one particular dark and rainy morning, he hits someone with his car. Distraught, Serge flees the scene of the crime. All day he struggles with guilt fearful to discover the actual outcome of the accident.
