Synopsis:

Ray Rubys Paradise, a classy go-go cabaret in downtown Manhattan, is a dream palace run by charismatic impresario Ray Ruby, with expert assistance from a bunch of long-time cronies, sidekicks and colourful hangers on and featuring the most beautiful and talented girls imaginable. But all is not well in Paradise. Ray is facing imminent foreclosure. His dancers are threatening a strip-strike. Even his brother and financier wants to pull the plug. But the dreamer in Ray will never give in. He has bought a foolproof system to win the Lottery. One magic night he hits the jackpot. And loses the ticket.

Indie stalwart Abel Ferrara helms this quirky comedy about the goings-on at a downtown cabaret. Willem Defoe stars as Ray Ruby, the proprietor of a joint where all of the dancing girls have big dreams of working their way up to bigger and better things. But trouble begins to brew when money suddenly comes between Ray and his two associates, played by Bob Hoskins and Matthew Modine. Asia Argento and Drea de Matteo also star.

The owner of a New York go-go dancing club has his business jeopardized when his brother and financial backer threatens to pull the plug on his business. The owner and his accountant face a bumpy night as the strippers threaten to strike.
