Synopsis:

Xavi Puebla skilfully directs a compact and tightly-scripted morality play that could be plucked from the works of David Mamet or Arthur Miller. Salva (Antonio Dechent) swiftly abandons his moral compass as he struggles to survive in the merciless, masculine world of high-pressure sales. Threatened by a younger, ruthless generation of salesmen, the desperate Salva needs to make a deal to keep his job and will do almost anything to achieve that goal. His last chance falls on securing a contract with the repellent but powerful Mr Battleworth (Nick Nolte). When he meets the streetwise and scintillating Inés (María Valverde), who may be the key to the deal, his luck appears to change.

TV salesman Salva knows he needs at least one big contract to bring him back into favor with his boss, so he heads to a trade fair where he hopes to make a pitch to Mr. Battleworth, a big American distributor. Weak on English, he enlists the aid of Ines, a hostess at the conference, but the meeting with Battleworth doesn't turn out exactly as planned. A business fable for our times, The Cold Call features excellent performances from Antonio Dechent, Maria Valverde and Nick Nolte as Mr. Battleworth.
