When his transport is destroyed by an IED, Military Doctor Pablo Garre (Alberto Ammann) and his fellow soldier Diego (Antonio de la Torre) must escape on foot through the deserts of Iraq. Subsequently wounded in battle, Garre comes home to his wife and daughter to recover in their isolated home on the northern coast of Spain. But when he learns that he and Diego are being praised for their discovery of a terrorist cell, he's taken aback. Though his memories of the events that led to his injury are fragmented, a consequence of post-traumatic stress, he recalls enough to know the truth was far more nightmarish and less heroic than the official story. As he begins to hunt down what really happened, pressing a stonewalling Diego for details, the same government forces that had welcomed him back now emerge as a sinister threat to his own life - and his family's. Nominated for five Goya Awards, Invader is a political thriller that marries visceral action with clear-eyed moral outrage at the brutalities of war, and the cover-ups that follow.

After an insurgent attack that nearly costs him his life, Pablo, an army doctor stationed in an international mission, is repatriated back to Spain to be with his wife and daughter, where he is given a hero's welcome and decorated for his courage in the line of duty. Suffering from partial amnesia, Pablo only has vague memories of the events that took place that day in Iraq, but he begins to suspect that he is not being told the whole story. As he finally manages to start putting the pieces of the puzzle together, Pablo realises that he will have to make a choice; to go along with the official version of events and protect his family or uncover what really happened that day.

After almost getting killed in a terrorist attack during an international mission, Pablo, a Spanish military doctor returns home to heal his wounds with his family. Soon Pablo starts suspecting that the army is withholding information about the attack and starts receiving pressure from the military high command to verify the official army version of the events. His refusal to comply and his search for the truth will endanger his life and his family.
