Synopsis:

Carlos and Miguel, friends since childhood, are going through what could only be described as a bit of a rough patch. Now in their fifties, instead of looking forward to a relaxing retirement, they have found themselves out of work, out of money and out of luck. Not only are they struggling to pay the bills, but also to prove to their families, and in-laws, that they are capable of looking after them. Just when they think that their situation is entirely hopeless, along comes a miracle! One day, while out fishing, the two friends make a very special catch… a package filled with 10 kilos of cocaine! They know that selling the drug would put an end to all their financial problems, but are they really prepared to get involved in such a dirty business? Do the ends really justify the means? And more to the point, what the hell do two fifty year olds know about selling coke? A story of family, friendship… and ten kilos of dope!

In this Spanish black comedy (2013), two middle-aged family men (Miguel de Lira and Paco Tous), struggling to get by amid an economic recession, find a brick of cocaine that's washed up on their favorite fishing beach and decide to chop it up and sell it. Typical of most thrillers about aspiring crooks, the movie turns on a series of darkly comic mishaps that illustrate how unfit they are for a life of crime; the dramatic scenes center on their family lives. Film and television has analogized organized crime and family dynamics for ages; director Alejandro Marzoa doesn't reinvent the wheel here, but the charismatic leads and their comedic banter keep this watchable.

Having just turned 50, best friends Suso and Miguel lose their respective jobs. Even though they can't make ends meet, they find solace in their one hobby: fishing. Luck seems to be on their side when, during one of their fishing expeditions, they find a package containing a significant amount of cocaine. Suso and Miguel decide to sell it to get out of their current financial travails. There's one catch: they don't know how. Shot in Galicia, 'Here's the Deal' starts out as a comedy about Spain's current economic crisis but soon turns into a wrenching drama about friendship, helplessness and dignity.
