Synopsis:

Admired by Jean-Marie Straub and Harun Farocki, Peter Nestler is one of the most important filmmakers in post-war Germany. Nestler strikes us with the thoroughness and inventiveness of his documentary gaze, both political and aesthetic. After the war, its cinema witnessed the metamorphoses of the working world, of the peasant way of life, but also became a voice for the Roma communities, the fight against the coup d'etat of the Colonels in Greece. With his recent works, his documentary forms open a more intimate breach, in particular with La Mort et le Diable which traces the journey of his grandfather, ethnographer explorer who went Nazism in the 1930s.
