Synopsis:
*********THIS DVD'S DESCRIPTION HAS NOT BEEN FINALIZED YET********
Perplexed, unmarried Laura and sweet but inept Mike form an unlikely union after meeting. Despite differences and lack of chemistry, an undefinable connection keeps stubborn Laura and grinning Mike together.

British sitcom about the simple relationship between Mike (Michael Williams) and Laura (Dame Judi Dench), two fairly unlikely individuals who come together and form an unmarried union. Nearing 40, Laura appears perplexed most of the time; Mike sports a perpetual grin. They first meet during a party at the insistence of Laura's younger sister Helen (Susan Penhaligon), and Mike's sweet, inept, and endearing character sparks something in the bossy, stubborn, big-softy Laura. They never quite hit it off, but something is there that keeps them together.

Musical Romance. During the French Revolution, Andre, son of the Duchess of Loraine, makes a bargain with Robespierre that if he can recover a necklace called the Pearls of Sorrow from England where they have been smuggled, his mother will be spared from the guillotine. When in England, Andre overhears Sir William Tremayne talking about the pearl he is wearing in his cravat, which he claims to be one of the Pearls of Sorrow. Andre arrives at the Tremayne's house to paint a portrait of Sir William's daughter, Denise, and recognises her pearls as the ones he seeks. However, they fall in love and Andre cannot bring himself to steal the pearls. He returns to France to give himself up in the hope that his mother will be spared. Denise, however, follows him and pleads for his life with Robespierre after giving him the pearls. When Robespierre realises that the Prince of Wales had given Denise the pearls, he uses the couple as a way of extorting money from the Prince. The latter pays Robespierre, and the couple are reunited in England. (Synopsis)
