Catalonia, Spain. In a village on the Costa Brava, JosÃ©, an Andalusian emigrant, works as a bricklayer while waiting for his wife Juana and his two children to join him.

Mass inner migration in Spain from Andalusia to Catalonia in the 60s is portrayed in two stages: first the husband, who must adapt to his new country, find work and a place for his family to live. Then his wife and children. Any shock must be overcome by their vital needs.
