Synopsis:
David, a professional videographer has been married to Lily for 6 years and has taped much of their lives together. Parties, vacations, their first house, all on video. At a New Years Eve party, Lily walks out on David. When David insists on a reason for her departure, her reply 'Watch the videos'. The film follows David's viewing of his library, as he and his friends search for the cause of his painful new life

David and Lily Hitchcock have been married for 6 years. During their marriage, David, a "professional videographer," has taped every vacation, party, significant event (buying a house), and trivial pursuit (rollerblading), with a single mindedness that is decidedly unsettling. The film opens at the Hitchcock's New Year's Eve party, during which Lily leaves David following his insistent demands that she perform step aerobics for the guests (and the camera). When David insists on a reason for the break-up, Lily replies, "Watch the videotapes." The film follows David's viewing of his library of Lily Videos, while he and his friends look for the reason for David's new life of pain and bewilderment.

The bulk of this domestic drama is comprised of video footage shot over the years by a boorish husband. Pieced together it forms a diary of a marital breakup that begins at a New Years Eve party. While David is taping, his wife Lily announces, right in front of the camera and everyone, that she wants a divorce. Utterly shocked, he asks her why and she tells him to look at all the videotape of their lives to discover the answer. What he finds does not reflect kindly upon his behavior.
