Synopsis:
In 1942, in an occupied Paris, the apolitical grocer Edmond Batignole lives with his wife and daughter in a small apartment in the building of his grocery. When his future son-in-law and collaborator of the German Pierre-Jean Lamour calls the Nazis to arrest the Jewish Bernstein family, they move to the confiscated apartment. Some days later, the young Simon Bernstein escapes from the Germans and comes to his former home. When Batignole finds him, he feels sorry for the boy and lodges him, hiding Simon from Pierre-Jean and also from his wife. Later, two cousins of Simon meet him in the cellar of the grocery. When Pierre-Jean finds the children, Batignole decides to travel with the children to Switzerland.

World War II drama set in 1942 about Edmond, a Jewish butcher, and his wife Micheline who live in cramped circumstances with their daughter Marguerite and her fiance Pierre-Jean in Nazi-occupied Paris. A wealthy Jewish family, the Bernsteins, are planning their escape to Switzerland but they are betrayed by Pierre-Jean who has his eye on their splendid apartment. The Bernsteins are arrested by the SS but their young son, Simon, escapes and returns to the family home - only to find Edmond and his family living there. Edmund resolves to shelter the boy and find a way to get him and several other refugee children to safety.

Summer 1942, Paris is under German occupation. A butcher, partly responsible for a Jewish family's deportation, hides Jewish children and helps them to safety. A heartwarming story of courage under fire.
