Synopsis:

Janna lives in a small Russian mental hospital close to the Chechen border, convinced that the rock star Bryan Adams is her fiance. When fighting starts, the hospital doctor becomes concerned for the welfare of the patients and goes out to find transport to move them, leaving them to their own devices. When a friendly group of Chechen soldiers enter the hospital Janna falls head over heels in love with one of them, but will Bryan give her up without a fight?

Directed by Andrei Konchalovsky, 'House Of Fools' captivated audiences at the Venice Film Festival, where it won two coveted awards including the prestigious Jury Grand Prize.

Set in 1996, during the first Chechen war, at a psychiatric hospital near the border. Janna and her fellow inmates live unaware of coming events, until one morning when they find the medical staff vanished. In the chaos that follows, Janna finds refuge in a dream world with her accordion and the songs of Bryan Adams. When a group of soldiers settles in the hospital, she falls in love with one of them, but in the end all she can do is play her accordion and pray for peace.

Cechnya 1996. Janna is a patient in a psychiatric unit on the Russian border where chaos breaks out after the staff abandon the hospital. The patients are free to organise their lives and some decide to leave but the awful sounds of war stop them in their tracks.
