Synopsis:

The movie is based on Harri Manner's eponymous novel. It is a story about an unemployed stonemason who decides to become a contemporary artist after he has fallen in love with a blind photographic artist on a train. There are hardly any movies about the world of contemporary art, even though it is currently in the mainstream of international high culture and is prompting an enormous amount of discussion. Contemporary art calls into question the old way of making art. The Great Performance raises questions about contemporary art by asking the question; 'What is really art?'
